Ashley Low Photography (ALP)

I met Ashley after combing through a list of baby photographers online. I wanted to do a baby shoot for my latest book – A Gift of Heaven as I shared about my journey.

A few replied with their standard packages and followed up with me. However, what draw me to work with Ashley is that she made the extra effort to check out my personal blog. She saw my rainbow memoir page and suggested a rainbow theme for my baby. A rainbow baby is a term used to discuss a baby that women conceived after a loss.

A rainbow, the beauty that comes after a storm and a symbol of hope, is a description women lovingly use for their babies that are born after a miscarriage, still birth, or infant loss.

For women who have experienced a loss, conceiving a “rainbow baby” doesn’t make them forget the loss, take it away or diminish it, but it does give them hope for a new chance at motherhood.

This excited me greatly and after sharing the concept with my publisher, I immediately decided to engage her for a photo shoot. On the day of the shoot, I was feeling the jitters and my baby was hungry just before we set off. So we fed him before making our way there.

Upon reaching, she sat with us to discuss about more ideas to work on to shoot our baby with. She even carried him to comfort and soothe him and that surprised us. Our baby was a preemie, so we delayed the shoot till he was all well and ready. She was also very comfortable in handling him for the photography session. I initially thought I would be the one handling my baby to shift him into positions. That was where I saw her and her staff gently moving our baby into positions without causing any discomfort. This set us at ease as our baby did not kick up a fuss at all. My hubby was so comfortable that he decided to pop over to the building next door to buy snacks for tea break. As for me, I sat comfortably on the sofa provided while looking at them.

Seeing my baby fitting into the various themes, tears welled up. Not long ago, we wouldn’t have believed it. Now, I can forsee him going through all the milestones like any happy child. Ashley was very professional in the shoot and stopping when our baby needed his milk. She did not rush us and even volunteer to feed him instead. This amazed us greatly as the studio setup was cosy with a nursing corner, changing diaper station and more. All these made us very comfortable and I was glad that our baby went through it smoothly.

If you also have a rainbow baby, I suggest taking up a rainbow baby shoot with Ashley today. You need not go through troubles of communicating with another photographer about what it meant and the purpose in doing so. For Ashley, she knew the significance and execute it beautifully. Isn’t that what we would love?
